Engagement Info

Congratulations!  You’re engaged!  Igor and I feel so honored that you are considering Studio Blue to capture your engagement shoot.  We know you must have lots of questions so we’ve put together some common questions that will hopefully help you get started on the right track!  Please contact us at info@studiobluephoto.com with any additional questions or if you’d like to schedule a time to chat.  We can’t wait to hear from you. 

How would you describe your style of photography?

In simple terms, what you see is what you get.  We like to shoot in a loose and candid style which allows us to capture your wedding story as it is really happening.  We love to focus on the emotion, the movement, and the happiness of your day.  We also enjoy some time with the couple alone to create some unique compositions that not only capture their love and emotion but also lend themselves to a more artistic quality.  We are what you might call “romantics”.  We love action, creative lighting, and emotion.  We’d love to work with you on some ideas that will make your engagement shoot unique to you!

Do you shoot film or digital?

All professional quality digital.  Digital photography offers unsurpassed turnaround times and creativity and we love it!  Plus it saves our environment; no paper processing or chemicals or film.  Totally a win win!

What equipment do you use? Do you have backup equipment?

We’re a Canon family. We love our 5D Mark II cameras and our variety of awesome L series lenses to accompany them. We have oodles of backup equipment so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

How many photographers will cover our engagement shoot?

Engagement shoots are generally shot by your one main photographer.  If you are having a destination engagement shoot which requires an overnight, then you get the two of us! 

Do we get our negatives?

Our packages do not include the negatives however a session disk or image may be purchased for an additional cost.  We don’t believe in holding your negatives hostage.

How many pictures will I get?

Usually 50-100 per hour of shooting

What is the turnaround time?

Engagement pictures are most often online within 2 weeks of your session date.

What should we wear?

As far as clothing, wear simple stuff. Crazy patterns and colors only distract from the subject; you! So keep it simple. Solids are great and most importantly, make sure that you and your fiancé match! This is one time that it is totally cool to coordinate your clothes. Hair and makeup should be nice and presentable but not over the top if that is not how you normally look. Dressing up is super cool but not required. It’s really up to you what kind of “feel” you want to your images and who you are as a couple. This is your opportunity to bring that out!

Where should we go?

Parks are always great locations but if you’re just not sure, contact us! I will send you a little questionnaire. Fill that out and send it back to me and I can make a few suggestions. We love to do themed engagement shoots so we can work together to come up with something unique to you

Are you a “Green” photographer and what does that mean to you?

Yes, Studio Blue Photography in constantly trying to come up with ways to save our environment and make as positive an impact as possible on our Earth. 20 ways we do this are:

  1. We recycle, a lot!
  2. Our albums come from companies that are considered “Green” and they handcraft each album
  3. Our print lab partner prints on recycled paper and 100% biodegradable paper
  4. We have a home based studio which saves on both gas and energy to run a separate studio
  5. Both of our cars get 36-50 miles per gallon
  6. We have all energy efficient light bulbs and appliances
  7. Our thermostat is carefully programmed and never set to anything above 68
  8. We eat natural and organic foods and cook a vegetarian menu
  9. Although we offer a leather option, most of our albums are covered in cloth or a beautiful faux
  10. We reuse all packaging material
  11. We power down all equipment when not in use
  12. We use actual dishes, cups and napkins instead of the paper version
  13. We use all digital equipment which saves on paper, film and chemicals
  14. We use rechargeable batteries
  15. We use email instead of snail mail
  16. Refill our ink cartridges instead of buying new ones
  17. Print double sided when we actually do need to print something
  18. We donate; a lot!
  19. Instead of juice boxes, our kids have super cool metal water bottles (and we do too)
  20. Drum roll please…We set our toilet to only use ½ the water capacity and turn the water off when
    brushing our teeth.


So yeah, you can have a super awesome photographer AND feel good about saving the environment.

How does Studio Blue give back to the community?

Studio Blue believes that we are very blessed to be living healthy, happy lives when so many people around the world are doing without. For every wedding package booked, Studio Blue donates $100 towards the charity of YOUR choice. For every portrait package booked, we donate 5% of the total price. In addition to our Charity Package Programs, we also hold and participate in events throughout the year to benefit great charitable organizations. It’s our little way of giving back.

What are your packages?

Engagement shoots are included in most of our wedding packages but if you are having only an engagement shoot with Studio Blue, the cost is $400.  If you later decide to book your wedding with us, that fee is applied to your wedding package (if that package includes an e-shoot).  Engagement shoots are usually up to 1 hour at the location of your choice.  For destination e-shoots, we request that you put us up for a night and in exchange, you have two of us for 4 hours and we treat you to dinner.

How do I view my pictures

You can access your images by going to our website and clicking on the link “clients” at the top.  Find your name and click.  The password to all of our events is simply your last name.  Please contact us if you are unable to access your images or if you have any questions at all.
